I am not a dancer. I do not feel like a dancer, but I wish I did. For a year now, I have been addicted to Pole Dancing/Pole Fitness, what have you, and I am strong. I have always been bendy and flexible, but I am not built like a dancer, I am not confident in my body, nor my ability to move as a dancer.
Therefore, for my 26th birthday I have given myself a gift: the gift of dance. I will freestyle dance to one song, every day, for the duration of my 26th year. The intention of this exercise being to motivate myself to work on fluidity, linking movements together, and dancing without any practice. To do this, I have budgeted for dance workshops, traincations, wardrobe, and supplemental conditioning for dance and pole.
Nothing will be recorded more than once, so it’s truly authentic. I will also record my training program as it progresses.
The rules are as follows:
-Dance freestyle to a different song, every day for a year;
-Missing posts is OK, missing dances is not. If I have gone camping, then a camping dance must happen, though the post will clearly wait until I return to the interwebz;
-Work actively, daily, on improvement;
-Missing 15 total dance days during the year is allowed. This ensures that if I have to miss a day I won’t discourage myself from bailing on the entire project.
To anyone watching, thank you! I am using this blog for accountability. If it’s on the internet, then there MIGHT be people watching and keeping up-to-date, and therefore I MAY have people watching my progress, and that is enough, hopefully, to keep me focused on diligence. So, again, thank you anyone out there. 🙂
